Occasionally, when traveling throughout the world and meeting Agel Team Members, something unique,
but almost unnoticed happens. I have come to treasure these little moments, because they are so filled with meaning. I found myself in the Crown Room in a secluded section at Salt Lake City airport waiting to take a flight to a distant country.
Suddenly, I look up, only to see several celebrities entering the same area and sitting down. They were taking a short hop to Park City for the Sundance film festival. They were dressed down, with sunglasses, trying not to attract attention. However, one of them was simply unmistakable.
It was the girl with the million dollar smile.
It was "Pretty Woman."
It was Julia Roberts.
I tried not to invade their privacy, but it was difficult to be so close to people you have watched on movie screens throughout the years. However, a fourteen year old girl was not nearly so shy. She had spotted Julia and boldly marched up to her for her autograph. As the paper was graciously being signed, the young girl said, "I want to be just like you."
Then came the million dollar smile, and this gentle reply and challenge: "Then why don't you?"
The young girl blushed, hugged the autograph to her, and skipped away. But her expression was telling; "Why not me? Maybe I can be someone great!"
So many times, in so many places, I have watched our Team Members look with awe and appreciation at some of
the legendary leaders in Agel. Some of them are thinking, "I wish I were like them. I wish I could be that successful. I
wish I were a leader."
The question I would ask is this: Why not you? Agel is ripe for the next wave of leaders to come forward and take their places!
But remember this. The great leaders, in any endeavor, have always paid a price. For example, Beethoven, Wagner, Bach and Mozart all worked regular shifts each day, just like an accountant settles in at the computer. They did not sit down to work because they were inspired, but became inspired because they sat down to work.
If you want to become a leader, the formula is simple:
show up for work everyday
enroll, enroll, enroll, constantly
teach others to do the same
Remember, you can't make footprints in the sands of time if you're sitting on your butt. And who wants to make butt-prints in the sands of time?
THIS IS YOUR TIME!
